Robert Durant Named a National Academy of Public Administration Fellow

School of Public Affairs Professors are among the largest group of fellows from one organization
American University’s Robert Durant, professor of public administration and policy in the School of Public Affairs, was recently elected into the National Academy of Public Administration’s 2006 fellowship class. With Durant’s appointment, ten AU School of Public Affairs professors have been appointed as an academy fellow, ranking the university among the leaders in fellowship participants. Happy Feet: Penguins in the News

Though he is not a biologist, language and foreign studies Professor Jack Child has been to Antarctica 12 times to research penguins. He has met a number of different penguin species in a variety of environments. Fluent in both English and Spanish Professor Child can comment on many aspects of penguins. Law Students Win Two Legal Victories

Students in the Glushko-Samuelson Intellectual Property Law Clinic at American University Washington College of Law won two legal victories last week, when they received positive rulings on two filings in a Copyright Office rulemaking proceeding on requested exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The decision was posted on the U.S. Copyright Office Web site last Wednesday. It announced six new classes of works that would be exempt from having to seek copyright authorization.
